Roundtable “Accessibility of Education for Persons with Disabilities in Kyrgyzstan”

On 11th December 2024 ,a roundtable discussion on the topic “Accessibility of Education for Persons with Disabilities in Kyrgyzstan” was held, organized by the Association for the Education Development in Kyrgyzstan (AED) with the Institute of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Public association of Parents of Children with Disabilities “ARDI” .

The event focused on analyzing the accessibility of secondary and higher education for persons with disabilities in the cities of Bishkek and Osh, as well as presenting the findings of a joint study conducted by our organizations. 

The roundtable brought together representatives of various government agencies, public organizations, and educational institutions. Among the participants were Member of Parliament Aysuluu Mamashova, Deputy Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic Aichurok Nazaralieva, Vice Mayor of Bishkek Victoria Mozgacheva, Deputy of the Council on Affairs of Persons with Disabilities under the Cabinet of Ministers Tolkunbek Isakov, representatives of the Ministry of Health, universities, schools, international organizations, and members of our Association. 

The discussion results highlighted that issues of educational accessibility require the active involvement of all stakeholders. The roundtable served as an essential platform for dialogue, enabling the discussion of existing challenges and the outlining of solutions. 

We thank all participants for their active involvement and remain committed to continuing our joint efforts to enhance the accessibility of quality education for persons with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan.
